Location : Maya, Nakirebe (Mpigi District) Experience Level : 1–3 Years About the Role: We are seeking a committed and detail-oriented HSE Officer to support the implementation and management of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) practices for our project. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with Ugandan laws, company standards, and international best practices while promoting a culture of safety and environmental responsibility. Key Responsibilities: 1. Establish, operate, and maintain the HSE management system for the project, ensuring compliance with Ugandan laws, regulations, and company standards. 2. Organize safety training sessions and emergency drills to enhance overall safety awareness and preparedness. 3. Conduct on-site safety inspections to identify potential risks and hazards, develop corrective measures, and track their implementation. 4. Manage occupational health and environmental protection initiatives, including prevention of occupational diseases and control of waste emissions. 5. Participate in accident investigations, analyze causes, propose preventive measures, and prepare comprehensive HSE reports. 6. Communicate and coordinate with local Ugandan government agencies, property owners, and subcontractors on HSE matters. 7. Handle injury management, return-to-work programs, and insurance-related processes. Qualifications and Skills: Bachelor’s degree or higher in safety engineering, environmental engineering, chemistry, or a related field. 1–3 years of relevant experience in HSE management or a related role. Relevant HSE certifications (e.g., OHSAS18001/ISO45001 internal auditor, safety officer certification) are highly desirable. Fluent in English and Luganda, with the ability to interpret local Ugandan HSE laws and regulations for stakeholders. Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills. Ability to identify risks and respond effectively to emergencies.
