DRC Vacancy: Protection Specialist-(Seconded), Bidibidi, Yumbe, Uganda | UNjobs Toggle navigation Latest Duty Stations Organizations Closing Soon Protection Specialist-(Seconded), Bidibidi, Yumbe, Uganda Organization: Danish Refugee Council (DRC) Country: Uganda Field location: Yumbe Office: DRC in Yumbe DRC Uganda is currently looking for a highly qualified and motivated individual to join our dynamic team as Protection Specialist (Seconded to Partner Organization) The overall purpose of the role: The Protection Specialist (Seconded) will provide on-site technical support and mentoring to the partner organization to ensure safe, ethical, and high-quality implementation of Gender Based Violence (GBV) and Child Protection (CP) case management, prevention and community-based protection activities. The position holder will strengthen the partner's capacity to deliver survivor and child-centre services in line with international standards, while supporting coordination, quality assurance, and progressive handover as per the localization process. He/she will also reinforce systems for referrals, risk mitigation, and protection mainstreaming across activities. Your main duties and responsibilities will be: Technical oversight and quality assurance (GBV and Child Protection response and prevention) Provide day-to-day technical guidance on Gender Based Violence and Child Protection case management and prevention activities in line with inter-agency standards and national guidelines. Ensure survivor-centred and child-safeguarding principles are consistently applied across all activities (case management, Women and Girls Safe Spaces (WGSS), awareness sessions, adolescent life skills, positive parenting, child-led activities, protection desks). Support the establishment and strengthening of safe implementation systems, including Standard Operating Procedures, tools, confidentiality protocols, and safe data management. Mentor staff on case management principles, risk identification, case management tools, safe disclosures and referral procedures. Ensure strong linkages between GBV and CP case management and community-based prevention mechanisms. Support quality implementation of Women and Girl Safe Spaces (WGSS) and child protection activities as safe entry points for identification and referral. Capacity strengthening and mentoring of partner staff Provide structured mentoring and on-the-job coaching to partner staff implementing protection activities. Support preparation and co-facilitation of trainings on protection principles, PSEA, Psychological First Aid, Safe referrals, and protection mainstreaming. Strengthen partner capacity to plan, implement, and monitor GBV and CP activities independently. Contribute to capacity development plans and track progress toward technical handover. Protection systems strengthening, quality assurance, and compliance Support the regular update of GBV and Child Protection referral pathways. Facilitate coordination with service providers, duty bearers, and community structures to ensure safe, timely, and confidential referrals. Promote integration between community-based mechanisms and specialized services. Identify emerging protection risks and recommend mitigation measures across activities. Support development and use of monitoring tools for response and prevention activities. Review documentation and reports to ensure quality, confidentiality, and compliance with protection standards. Ensure adherence to safeguarding, PSEA, and donor requirements. Document lessons learned and good practices to inform adaptive programming. Liaison with DRC Protection team and quality alignment Maintain close technical coordination with DRC's Protection team to ensure alignment with organizational standards, tools, and approaches. Participate in regular technical supervision and case discussions with DRC specialists. Facilitate two-way information sharing between the partner and DRC to support adaptive programming and problem-solving. Escalate complex protection concerns, safeguarding risks, or implementation challenges to DRC for guidance. In collaboration to the Country Protection Specialist, contribute to harmonization of methodologies, training materials, and reporting between DRC and the partner. About you To be successful in this role, you must have a minimum 5 years of experience in GBV prevention and response programming. Moreover, we also expect the following. Required A Bachelor's degree in Social work, Development Studies, Gender Studies, or related field. A Master's degree is an added advantage Demonstrated experience in GBV, child protection, and general protection programming. Strong technical expertise in protection and GBV programming. Excellent facilitation, training, and mentoring skills Strong coordination and stakeholder engagement abilities Analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent report writing and communication skills Strong understanding of protection principles, inter
